CROSS-CULTURAL EFFECTIVENESS: OBTAINING SUCCESS IN THE GLOBAL ARENA
Every person who works or anticipates working in the international arena must contend with the serious and very costly mistakes and misunderstandings caused by differences in business practices and social customs.
 
This program is designed to enhance the effectiveness of all people whose work brings them into contact with people from other countries. Any person who works internationally or who works with personnel from other countries will learn important skills necessary for success when working in the global arena.
 
Training Objectives:

2. Where do we get our values?  Handout "Ethnic Family Stereotypes, Myths, & Realities
    This is a personal survey describing how to ascertain how we learned values such "the importance of work", "emphasis on education", "emphasis on risk taking", "emphasis on being a team player".
3. American Cultural Values & Stereotypes:  discussion in small groups
4. Traits  For Success survey
5. Identifying Critical Factors Responsible for Cross-Cultural Misunderstandings  
6. Four Dimensions of National Culture: Measure Your Personal Style survey
7. Norms of Fifty Countries:  review research results
8. Action Plan to Develop Skills for Success and follow-up reading list.
 
Everyday we are confronted with "us"-"them" questions as we see terror alerts rise and fall. This training examines American culture and how perceptions about differences are developed. You will learn communication skills to address global issues.
